PROJECT DESCRIPTION
WASH-in-Schools is a program that has gained much attention and momentum recently. It entails a complete approach that includes the provision of a safe drinking-water source, sanitation facilities and hygiene education. The combination of all three interventions has been shown to reduce diarrheal diseases significantly and to increase students’ attendance.

The school currently has bathroom facilities constructed of adobe over 30 years ago with Turkish style toilets but are in “deplorable conditions”, as described by the school principal.
The proposed facilities will provide an adequate number of stalls for the large number of children that attend the school, and will provide for adequate and modernized washing stations.
The dilapidated water system at the school will be repaired to accommodate the new services. The total estimated cost of the project is $9,150.
